The Chivas vs Atlante match will take place at the Estadio Omnilife on Sunday, August 4th at 3:00 PM Pacific. Chivas is coming off an ugly home loss against Veracruz, and is desperate to add points in this Liga MX Week 4 match.
Chivas has only played two matches this season, as it had its Week 1 match against Santos postponed to October. Chivas started off the season with a 1-1 away draw against Jaguares, a match that they were a couple of minutes away from losing. In last Wednesday’s match against Veracruz, Chivas was defeated 2-0 at the Estadio Omnilife.
That is, in two matches, Chivas has only earned 1 point. Chivas has to defeat Atlante, it cannot fall to the bottom of the standings so early in the season. Given that Atlante is a team that will likely remain in the bottom places all season long, not earning all 3 points against them would be devastating.
Atlante is having the type of season everyone expected of them so far, out of three matches, they have lost twice and tied once. The very limited Atlante roster has little chances of making it even close to the playoff spots, and is in fact a prime candidate for relegation into the Ascenso MX.
Chivas coach Benjamin Galindo knows that a rough start this season could very well lead to an early end of his contract. With an owner as Jorge Vergara, Galindo is probably aware that a loss against Atlante would put him in jeopardy, only three games into the season.
It’s important to note that Aldo de Nigris is still out injured, he will add badly needed offensive firepower once he is finally able to make a debut for Chivas.
Chivas vs Atlante Prediction
The Chivas vs Atlante match is a game that Chivas really needs to win, they are facing one of the worst teams in the Liga MX at home. Nonetheless, given Chivas’ apparent inability to play well, it will still be a tight encounter. Look for Chivas to come out with a slim victory. The Chivas vs Atlante match will end 1-0 in favor of the Guadalajara based team.
