Mexican Media Say Alvarez Is Being Erased at West Ham as Parker Offers No Explanation

Alvarez Erased at West Ham - Mexican Media React as Parker Stays Silent

Edson Alvarez was left out of the West Ham squad again on Saturday, this time at Blackburn Rovers, and in Mexico the verdict is already in.

Mexican coverage of his second straight omission under Scott Parker has settled on one word for what is happening to the national team captain: borrado, erased.

West Ham lost 2-1 at Ewood Park. Alvarez was named neither in the starting lineup nor among the nine substitutes.

What Happened at Blackburn

Parker started Mohamadou Kante, Arne Engels and Divine Mukasa in midfield. The bench midfield options were Soungoutou Magassa, Lewis Orford and Tomas Soucek.

Andri Gudjohnsen put Blackburn ahead on 54 minutes and Oladapo Afolayan doubled the lead on 71. Joel Piroe pulled one back for West Ham on 82 minutes.

The omission is confirmed by West Ham’s official team news article, which names the squad Parker selected and offers no explanation for Alvarez’s absence.

Parker then gave his post-match interview without mentioning Alvarez at all. There was no squad explanation and no fitness update.

That silence matters, because this was not a repeat of the Cardiff situation. At Cardiff there was at least a reason on record, even if it arrived a day late.

What Mexican Media Are Saying

Claro Sports led its coverage with the count: Alvarez has now gone 91 days without playing an official match, since his 75 minutes against Portsmouth on August 8.

Claro Sports also stated plainly that West Ham has not communicated a return date for Alvarez and has not publicly explained the reasons for his exclusion against Blackburn.

ESTO put the same count on a graphic shared on its social channels on Saturday: 91 days in oblivion, with Alvarez still erased from West Ham.

Hispanic Post went further, arguing in an opinion piece that the exclusion points to a deep fracture between the player and the London club’s project.

That is Hispanic Post’s interpretation, not a reported fact. The same piece asserts that Alvarez carries no injury, a claim it does not source and one that sits awkwardly against the only explanation Parker has given.

The bigger Mexican outlets have so far stayed silent on Blackburn. TUDN, Mediotiempo and Record have published nothing on this omission.

The One Explanation on Record

Speaking to SunSport on Friday, Parker said every player in the squad had a clean slate, and that Alvarez had a slight niggle in his back but had trained for the first time under him.

Those remarks explained Cardiff, where the decision was to keep the group together. Parker has offered nothing since for Blackburn.

None of the Mexican coverage published on Saturday mentions Parker’s Friday explanation at all. The erased framing was built without it.

So the honest position is this. Alvarez trained this week, his manager spoke of a clean slate, and he still did not make a nine-man bench, with no reason given.

What It Means for Mexico

Alvarez is Mexico’s captain, and he is already out of the squad for the Nations League quarterfinals against Jamaica on November 14 and 17.

That makes two consecutive FIFA windows he will miss. The cause is not in dispute in Mexico: without club minutes, there is no match rhythm to select.

As FutnSoccer reported on Saturday morning, the clean slate was the opening. Blackburn showed it has not yet become a place in the squad.

What happens next is a minutes question. A return to the squad in West Ham’s coming fixtures would change the picture for the next Mexico camp.

Continued absence, still unexplained, would only harden the Mexican reading of the situation and sharpen the questions around January.
