Chivas de Guadalajara will travel to Monterrey without four regulars on Saturday, after Gabriel Milito ruled Angel Sepulveda, Brian Gutierrez, Omar Govea and Luis Romo out of the Jornada 14 match.
Milito confirmed the news in his press conference after Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Necaxa, as reported by Ovaciones. Sepulveda and Brian Gutierrez remain in rehabilitation, and neither will return in time to face Rayados.
Sepulveda missed the Necaxa match after the club confirmed he has an injury, with no severity and no return date given. That picture has not changed.
Brian Gutierrez was held out against Necaxa with muscular discomfort, and the club chose rest and differentiated work over a confirmed injury diagnosis. He sits out a second straight match as well.
Govea and Romo Are Close, but Not Ready for Chivas de Guadalajara
Omar Govea and Luis Romo are in the final stage of their recoveries, Milito said, but neither midfielder will be available at Monterrey either.
Jose Castillo completes the injured list. The defender is also in the final phase of his rehabilitation, and the club has said it will not rush him back.
What the Absences Mean for Chivas de Guadalajara at Monterrey
Ricardo Marin leads the line again after starting against Necaxa, and Jordan Carrillo’s role keeps growing. Carrillo started on Tuesday, three days after scoring his first Chivas goal.
In midfield, the options stay thin behind Ruben Gonzalez and Leonel Calderon, with no senior reinforcement returning to the bench.
Chivas start the weekend second in the table on 23 points. Kickoff at Estadio BBVA is Saturday at 7:00 p.m. CT, against a Monterrey side coached by former Chivas boss Matias Almeyda.
The club has not yet published its official squad list for the trip. U.S. viewers can follow every match on the Chivas de Guadalajara hub and find viewing details in the Chivas de Guadalajara viewing guide.
