Three Takeaways From FC Juarez vs Atlante
1. Carrera Won It After Sarrafiore Had a Goal Ruled Out
Sarrafiore scored from beyond midfield in the 29th minute. VAR intervened and the goal was disallowed for his handball when winning the ball.
He still decided the match. His assist in the 76th minute set up the Carrera header that gave Atlante the three points.
2. The Defeat Seals Elimination for FC Juarez
FC Juarez stay on four points from 13 matches. Four matches remain, so their maximum possible total is now 16 points.
Eight clubs already hold 17 points or more. The top eight advance directly to the Liguilla quarterfinals, with no Play-In round in the Apertura 2026.
The club has one win in 13 matches, eight goals scored and 32 conceded.
Those totals are the fewest goals scored and the most goals conceded in the league. FC Juarez are winless in four matches since the Jornada 9 win over Tigres UANL.
3. Atlante Won Without Herrera, Backed by Five Saves
Atlante played this match without Herrera on the bench because of his suspension. They still took all three points on the road.
Óscar Jiménez made five saves, the most by either goalkeeper in the match. Atlante also arrived after a 2-1 home defeat to Pumas UNAM in Jornada 12.
The win is the third of the tournament for Atlante and their second away win. Their away record is now two wins, two draws and three defeats.
What the Result Means
FC Juarez remain last with four points from 13 matches. Their record is one win, one draw and 11 defeats, with eight goals scored and 32 conceded.
Every other club holds nine points or more, so last place is confirmed for FC Juarez. Elimination is also confirmed by the arithmetic above.
Atlante move to 14 points from 13 matches. Their record is three wins, five draws and five defeats, with 14 goals scored and 19 conceded.
With five Jornada 13 matches still to be played on Wednesday, the Atlante position remains provisional. They sit three points behind Monterrey on 17 points, who play on Wednesday.
