This Saturday, March 5, 2022, was one of the saddest days in the history of Mexican soccer. A violent brawl burst out in the match between Queretaro and Atlas that has reportedly left several people dead and injured.
The latest unofficial report released by TV Azteca reporter David Medrano claims that 17 people are dead after the altercation at the Estadio Corregidora. Again it is important to reiterate that this is an unofficial report and that some are claiming a higher or lower death total.
La primer cifra extraoficial es de 17 fallecidos.

The brawl broke out in the stands and at this moment it is unclear as to which fanbase started it. However, it is clear that the Estadio Corregidora security did little to nothing to stop the brawl and that some members of the security team even opened a gate that allowed Queretaro fans to reach Atlas fans.
The altercation spilled out onto the Estadio Corregidora field as several families and other fans wanted to be safe. There is images of families on the field and of Queretaro fans attacking Atlas fans on the field of play as well.
The Liga MX has not reported any sanctions against Queretaro or its fanbase as of yet, but obviously, this game was suspended while Atlas held a 1-0 lead. The rest of the games in Week 9 of the Liga MX 2022 Clausura were officially suspended as detailed by the Liga MX.
