This Wednesday, March 2, 2022, Club America officially announced through a club statement that Santigo Solari had ended his venture as the manager of the team. The announcement came as no surprise after America had tied 1-1 against Queretaro due to a late penalty on Tuesday night.
Las Aguilas are off to one of their worst starts in franchise history, currently in penultimate place with five points from eight games played. Santiago Solari was already on the hot seat and failing to win at home against Queretaro was the final straw for the front office.
The Club America front office showed a surprising amount of patience with Solari despite terrible results. One of Solari’s biggest problems was home results as Los Azulcremas are winless at the Estadio Azteca this season with three losses and a draw.
Solari also struggled to find an ideal starting 11 this season as he was switching up his lineup week in and week out. This was also due to inconsistency from new signings like Ferney Otero, Alejandro Zendejas and Jonathan Dos Santos.
Solari was the scapegoat in the current Club America landscape as there are major problems within the front office and players. It is unclear as to who will substitute Santiago Solari at the helm, but the time to rescue this season for Club America is becoming more unlikely by the day.
