Santos Laguna has been the worst team in the Liga MX 2022 Clausura season, currently dead last with just one point earned from four games played. The Torreon team has failed to score more than a goal in all four games played this season and is coming off a 2-1 loss to Atlas away from home.
Pedro Caixinha has really struggled in his return to the Liga MX and it will be interesting to see how much patience Santos’ front office has with him. Harold Preciado scored in his Liga MX debut in Los Guerreros‘ last match as he has the potential to help turn the season around for Caixinha’s side.
Club America has not been doing any better than Santos, currently in penultimate place with just one point. The Mexico City team is coming off an embarrassing 3-2 loss to Atletico San Luis at the Estadio Azteca and needs to turn things around at this point of the season.
Miguel Layun did receive a red card in the loss to San Luis as he left the game cursing out fans and will subsequently not be available for this match. Club America has a talented squad with players like Roger Martinez, Salvador Reyes and Alvaro Fidalgo, but has failed to find an identity and consistent playing style under manager Santiago Solari.
