Cruz Azul reached the Liga MX semi-finals after defeating Tigres 3-2 in the quarter-finals. Interestingly, Cruz Azul won away but lost the match at home. Though part of it can be explained by the fact that Cruz Azul won the first leg in Monterrey 3-1.

Pumas reached this stage of the Liga MX playoffs by defeating Pachuca 1-0 on aggregate. Pumas won the first away leg 1-0, and held off Pachuca to a 0-0 draw at home.

This is a very tight encounter between two of Mexico’s most followed teams. Both teams showed they can get away results, so I don’t think this first leg will leave a clear favorite going into the second  leg.

I expect both teams to hold back and not risk too much on the attack, and the match will end in a 0-0 draw.
