Queretaro was one of the biggest surprises of the 2018 Clausura tournament as Rafael Puente Jr. led his team to the playoffs. However, Los Gallos Blancos are sue for a very tough season without star goalkeeper Tiago Volpi, who is on loan at Sao Paulo.
Brazilian striker Camilo Sanvezzo is also likely to leave the team and it will be tough for this team to repeat the success that was seen last season. For now, the team still has a decent attacking core with Daniel Villalva, Everaldo Stum and new pickup Ake Loba. But the defense may struggle without Tiago Volpi in net and without Hiram Mier, who was sold to Chivas.
Atlas was very active in the offseason and made some decent signings, most notably beefing up the midfield by signing Jesus Isijara and Osvaldo Martinez from Santos Laguna. Other intriguing signings for Los Rojinegros included former Leon winger Dario Burbano and young Colombian defender Jorge Segura.
Guillermo Hoyos has a lot to improve from last season as the team from Guadalajara finished in 17th place with just 11 goals scored in the 2018 Apertura. Los Zorros looked very good at times under the leadership of Hoyos and it will be interesting to see if the team can improve with these new signings.
