This Thursday, December 27, 2018, Chivas de Guadalajara officially announced the signing of Jesus Molina from Monterrey. Both teams have made several transactions between them recently as they recently made a swap deal involving Angel Zaldivar and Luis Madrigal.

Molina became Chivas’ fifth signing this transfer window joining Luis Madrigal, Hiram Mier, Alexis Vega and Dieter Villalpando. While these signings have been decent, Los Rojiblancos have also lost key players like Angel Zaldivar, Orbelin Pineda and Edwin Hernandez.

Molina has had an extensive playing career dating back to 2007 with Tigres UANL and has become one of the better defensive midfielders in the league. The 30-year-old played with Tigres until 2011 then made a massive career move to Club America, where he had over 100 appearances from 2011-2014.

The Sonora native then played with Santos Laguna from 2015-2016 and with Monterrey from 2017-2018. Molina has been part of some important teams and has won three total league titles, two with Club America and one with Santos Laguna in the 2015 Clausura championship.

The Mexican midfielder has very good physical and defensive capabilities and can even play as a centre-back if needed. Chivas has lacked a physicality for several seasons now, especially in the midfield and Molina should be a solid signing.
