Leonardo Ramos scores against Chivas, continues impressive form

San Luis vs Leon

Lobos BUAP pulled off a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Chivas de Guadalajara in Week 13 of the Liga MX 2018 Apertura. Leonardo Ramos scored the lone goal for Los Poblanos as the Argentine striker continued his impressive form to start off his Liga MX career.

Ramos has now scored six goals in his first five Liga MX games and is becoming one of the most clinical forwards in the league. The Argentine striker had previously been a key player for Cafetaleros de Tapachula in Mexico’s second-tier league with 10 goals in 16 games.

The 29-year-old had never played in a league as competitive as the Liga MX and his run of form has been very surprising, to say the least. Before playing for Tapachcula, Ramos had played with lower-league Argentine clubs, San Marcos de Arica in Chile, Platanias in Greece and with Renofa Yamaguchi of the second-tier Japanese league.

The Buenos Aires native is not the quickest or most skillful player, but he does have a solid physical presence with exceptional positioning that makes him a threat to any Liga MX backline. Ramos is currently averaging a goal every 73 minutes and will be one of the main players to watch as the regular season comes to an end.
