Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has heaped praise on his teammate Sadio Mane, whom he believes has the talent that is required to go on and become one of the world’s best.

Fabinho also said that before he joined the Reds during the summer transfer window, he used to admire the performances of the Senegal international on television.

After a promising spell with Southampton between 2014-16, the 26-year-old Mane earned himself a move to Anfield in 2016. He has managed to become a key player of the Reds first-team and last season formed one of the formidable attacking trios in England along with team-mates Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool have enjoyed a fine start to the League season and are expected to contend for the title this season. After 8 games in the top-flight, they remain undefeated and have 20 points. They are behind Chelsea and reigning Champions Manchester City only on goal difference.

This season promises to be one of the most competitive in recent history. Behind the top three teams on 20 points each are the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham who sit in 4th and 5th position respectively each with 18 points to their names.

When talking about his team-mate Mane, Fabinho told Goal: “Sadio Mane is an excellent player,”

“Before I came to Liverpool, I saw him on TV and I liked him a lot.

“He is very fast and very intelligent. He has everything to continue growing to become one of the best players in the world.

“I hope he continues with us for a long time. It is a pleasure to play alongside him.”
