In Week 10 of the Liga MX 2018 Apertura Cruz Azul will meet Atlas at the Estadio Azteca in what is set to be a pretty big mismatch between the first place team and the second placed team on the league table. Both teams have had some major disappointments throughout their history, but have also had some very talented players, here are five that have played for both Los Celestes and Los Rojinegros.
Jose de Jesus Corona
“Chuy” has built a name for himself with La Maquina as one of the best players in franchise history after nearly a decade with the Mexico City club. The Mexican goalkeeper was picked up by Cruz Azul in 2009, but is an Atlas youth product and did start his professional career with the Guadalajara team in 2003
Gerardo Flores
“Jerry” has over 120 appearances with Cruz Azul dating back to 2011 and has really become a bit of a cult hero at the club because of his long locks and effort he gives in each match. Flores started his professional career with Monterrey, but did play with Atlas from 2007-2011 before being signed by Los Cementeros.
Milton Caraglio
Caraglio is becoming a very respectable striker in the Liga MX and is off to a solid start with Cruz Azul this season. The Argentine was one of the top signings for Cruz Azul this offseason after scoring 16 goals in two seasons for Atlas.
Omar Bravo
The Mexican striker will always be remembered for his great moments with Chivas de Guadalajara and his stints with Cruz Azul and Atlas will be a lot less memorable. Bravo played with Los Cementeros in 2012 and scored just six goals in two tournaments, but he doubled that with Los Zorros in 2013 with 12 goals in two tournaments.
Rogelio Chavez
Chavez is another player that Cruz Azul fans will remember dearly as he spent more than a decade with the team form 2004-2016. The Hidalgo native had over 200 appearances with Los Cementeros and just 11 with Atlas in 2012. The Mexican fullback was great at going forward and had an exceptional crossing ability that made him a solid player in the Liga MX for several years.
