The Toronto FC vs Tigres UANL game will be broadcast live online and on TV as The Reds host Los Felinos at BMO Field this Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 5:15 PM Pacific.
This will be the first-ever edition of the Campeones Cup, which will bring the most recent winners of the MLS and Liga MX’s Campeon de Campeones face to face. This will be a rematch of a quarterfinal fixture in the last edition of the CONCACAF Champions League in which Toronto FC came out on top.
The Reds are struggling massively in Major League Soccer this season, currently ninth in the Eastern Conference with eight wins, six draws and 14 losses. The Canadian team is coming off an impressive 5-3 win against the LA Galaxy, but has been off this season despite having much of the same core from its championship year.
Toronto FC does have some very dangerous players going forward like Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore and Victor Vazquez. The defense has some intriguing players like Gregory Van der Wiel, but has been an issue throughout the season.
Tigres UANL is not off to the best start currently in seventh place after nine games, but is undefeated in its last four games. Ricardo Ferretti has also managed to keep his base from Tigres’ 2017 Apertura, but has also added other players like Julian Quinones and Guido Pizarro.
Like Toronto, the team from Nuevo Leon has some very exciting forwards like Andre-Pierre Gignac, Eduardo Vargas and Enner Valencia. It is unclear if Ricardo Ferretti will field an alternate starting lineup, but any combination of players on Tigres’ roster should still be able to provide a competitive effort in this match.

Toronto will have the home-field advantage, but Tigres has the better and more well-balanced team along with being in much better form. FutnSoccer predicts a 3-2 win for the Liga MX team in what should prove to be a highly entertaining and intense clash north of the border.
