Why West Ham did Newcastle lots of good with this decision last transfer window

Joe Hart

As per Mirror Football, Newcastle United failed with a late bid to land Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on loan last month, as West Ham insisted they weren’t going to let go of the 30-year-old.

Since getting dropped for the Premier League game against his parent club, the England international has firmly become Adrian’s backup under Hammers manager David Moyes.

The Scot insists Hart can still force himself back into the starting lineup, while the side is also in need of a quality backup.

Newcastle offered to allow one of their reserve goalies leave in the other direction for the Manchester City man to move to Tyneside, but were eventually forced to seal a late loan deal for Sparta Prague’s Martin Dubravka at the last minute.

The Slovakia international is already a cult hero following his solid debut performance – against almighty Manchester United.

Manager Rafa Benitez chose to start him ahead of Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot due to his ball-playing abilities – a feature Hart struggles with.

The Englishman has also failed to impress since losing his place at Manchester City, and he wouldn’t have been very helpful to Newcastle’s survival cause either.

It’s safe to say West Ham did the Magpies a lot of good with their decision to hold on to Joe Hart.
