Club chief confirms Leeds have sealed deal for 36-goal striking sensation ahead of summer

Leeds United have been handed a massive boost ahead of the summer transfer window, with reports from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sports Witness) claiming a deal with Carpi striker Jerry Mbakogu has been sealed.

A move for the Nigerian-born Italian fell through last month, with the Serie B side not keen on letting go of their most important player midway through a promotion-chasing campaign.

However, Leeds have sealed a £4.5million deal for Mbakogu as per Carpi’s general manager Matteo Scali who said: “There’s a gentleman’s agreement with Leeds for June.”

The 25-year-old has been more than just a source of goals for the Italian outfit, with his influence and work-rate on the pitch always spurring the team on.

Mbakogu has scored 36 goals in 124 appearances for Carpi, with 8 of them and 3 other assists coming in 21 games across all competitions this term.

Leeds badly need a finisher capable of stepping into the big shoes Chris Wood left at Elland Road, and the Italian powerhouse and striking sensation possesses all it takes to do exactly just that.

All things being equal, a summer arrival for Mbakogu at the Yorkshire club is all but sealed.
