Fowler reveals Liverpool manager Klopp has vindicated himself with this decision

Robbie Fowler believes that Roberto Firmino has vindicated Jurgen Klopp’s decision to make him the clubs first-choice striker.

Firmino arrived at the Reds in 2015 and was expected to play an advanced role in midfield.

After being given the opportunity to wear the number nine jersey at the beginning of the year, the Brazilian appears to be enjoying the best football of his career.

He has gone on to score 19 goals so far this season which has included 11 in the Premier League and in the process has become a key player for the Reds.

His success was ultimately what resulted in Daniel Sturridge leaving Anfield last month to join West Brom on loan.

Fowler said: “I didn’t really know much about him if I was totally honest.

“Irrespective of whether he got the number nine, 10, 11 or 23 or whatever shirt, if you are playing up front you are expected to score goals and he has delivered.
