According to reports, Patrice Evra turned down a move to Everton in favour of joining West Ham.

The 36-year-old has not played professional football since having his contract terminated by Marseille last November after he kicked a fan during a Europa League encounter.

As a result of the ban, he is banned from playing in the UEFA competitions till June next year.

The Frenchman is however eligible to still play domestic football and he has now joined the Hammers.

Evra has previously worked with Hammers manager David Moyes when the Scot managed Manchester United during the 2013/14 season.

While Evra is past his peak, he could add much needed quality to the Hammers backline and could also help motivate other players within the team as he is a player who has experienced success.

He also proved through his performances this season that he is still capable of performing at the highest level.
