Therefore, Lawrenson has urged the Merseysiders to take at least five new players, stating that Manchester City will spend monster figures again to achieve European ascendancy.
“You have to bear in mind, of course, that Man City will go mad again in the summer because they want world domination,” BBC Sport pundit Lawrenson told FootballTips.
“So, if that’s the case, Liverpool will at least need half a dozen. Goalkeeper, you might argue another centre back, creative midfield player, another striker, maybe a wide player just in case they want to change it around a little bit and break it up.
“So I would say a good half a dozen but I don’t think it’s going to happen to be honest with you.”
Apart from Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho is also known for wasting huge money on new signings, so Klopp will inevitably have to rush into the market to keep his team at the very top.
