Leeds are in the process of appointing a new manager before weekend’s clash against Sheffield United, and the sack of Thomas Christiansen might have dealt a huge blow on the club’s transfer plans.
Having failed to land Carpi’s striker Jerry Mbakogu last month, several reports claim a deal is in place to finally bring the 25-year-old Nigerian-born Italian to Elland Road by summer.
However, with the change in manager, it remains to be seen if such agreement still remains in place.
Mbakogu was Christiansen’s target, but the new boss could desire a different playing style that the Serie B hitman doesn’t offer.
Leeds are said to be ready to pay £3.5million for the striker who has weighed in 8 league goals in 20 appearances thus far this term, and he seems like the perfect Chris Wood’s replacement the club have since struggled to land.
Christiansen’s exit, though, means the Whites’ summer transfer plans are about to change, and that could also include the deal to bring Mbakogu to Yorkshire at the end of the campaign.
