West Ham United suffer a huge injury blow to star

West Ham have suffered a blow as Pedro Obiang is set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

The 25-year-old sustained ligament damage after a tackle from Max Power of Wigan Athletic during the Hammers 2-0 FA Cup fourth round defeat against the League One club last month.

The Spaniard underwent surgery during the weekend and will now spend time on the side lines.

This will be a major blow for the Hammers considering that Obiang is a key part of the team and had featured 26 times for the club this season prior to his injury.

Following his injury against Wigan, manager David Moyes said: “Pedro looks as if he’s got a medial knee ligament, we will have him sent for a scan to tell us exactly what’s wrong.”

The Hammers meanwhile are currently on an underwhelming run of form and were deeated 3-1 by Brighton during the weekend.
