According to reports, Leicester maintained their tough stance on Riyadh Mahrez last month due to Liverpool’s transfer business.
The Reds were involved in some of the biggest transfer deals last month as they brought in Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for £75 million and also ended up selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142 million- a Premier League record.
Manchester City had been hoping to sign Mahrez and tabled a cash plus player deal. City made a few last-minute offers as they attempted to sign the 2016 PFA Player of the year. Pep Guardiola’s team bid as much as £65 million but Leicester rejected it.
The Mirror has claimed that the greater evaluation was reflective of Liverpool’s transfers.
The Foxes reportedly believe that their £80 million evaluation of the Algerian is fair after Liverpool brought in van Dijk for £75 million and sold Coutinho for nearly double the figure.
Mahrez was once again left frustrated as he looks to secure a move away from the King Power Stadium.
