Sunderland reportedly keen on signing 30-year-old striker from Scotland

Journalist Alan Nixon has claimed on Twitter that Sunderland are interested in signing Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty before the transfer window closes.

Lafferty only joined the Scottish club during the summer from Norwich City but the Tynecastle side could be tempted to listen to offers should the Black Cats be willing to offer cash.

Chris Coleman’s side are in desperate need of an experienced striker after losing top scorer Lewis Grabban who was recalled by his parent club Bournemouth.

At 30-years-old, Lafferty is still at an age where he can succeed in Championship football. He also has a good record for the Northern Ireland national team.

Getting the funds to make a move possible could be a problem for Coleman’s side, but if they do manage to make a few sales soon, they could use the funds generated in order to bring Lafferty to the Stadium of Light. He would not be the worst addition for Sunderland.
