According to reports, Sunderland are still keen on signing Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan and a deal is now likely to depend on whether the Whites allow him to leave Elland Road.

Leeds have been linked with a move for Liverpool’s third-choice shot-stopper Adam Bogdan and should they manage to sign him, it is likely that they will allow Lonergan to leave.

The Black Cats currently sit third from bottom on the Championship standings and are looking to sign Lonergan in order to bolster their side with experience and quality as they look to avoid relegation this season.

Leeds are likely to find out soon whether they will be able to sign the 34-year-old Lonergan given that the transfer window will close on Wednesday night.

Lonergan has been serving mainly as back-up keeper for Leeds this season.

He did get the first choice position for a short while following some clumsy displays from Felix Wiedwald but was unable to impress and Wiedwald won back the number one jersey.
