Reliable Journalist Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post has claimed that a transfer of goalkeeper Andy Lonergan from Leeds to Sunderland is likely to cost the Black Cats a fee.
Leed’s number two Lonergan has been linked with a move to the Black Cats this month as Chris Coleman looks to find a solution to his problems in goal.
The Black Cats are currently in financial trouble and earlier reports have claimed that the Lonergan could go to the Stadium of Light as part of a swap deal.
However Hay who works closely with the Whites has suggested that Thomas Christiansen’s side could demand a fee for the keeper.
He said: “A fee sounded more likely to me, although Sunderland aren’t flush. He won’t be a free transfer, put it that way.”
Lonergan has made just several appearances in the Championship this season with the Whites opting to utilize Felix Wiedwald.
