Things go from bad to worse for West Ham’s 30-year-old man

Joe Hart

Joe Hart’s chances of serving as first choice goalkeeper for the England national team during the 2018 world cup appeared to have all but ended after the Hammers fell to a 2-0 defeat against Wigan in the FA Cup on Saturday.

David Moyes’ side went down due to a brace from Will Grigg.  Though the result is not very shocking as the Hammers are prioritizing Premier League survival, it would have all but ended Hart’s chances of starting for England at the world cup.

Moyes has preferred Adrian over Hart as his first choice keeper in the Premier League recently and this is unlikely to change following the England international’s performance on Saturday.

The Three Lions first-choice position at the world cup is now likely to be a battle between Jack Butland and Jordan Pickford of Everton. At best, Hart could slot in as a third-choice considering his extensive experience.
