Leeds reportedly name Villa outcast as primary target

The Daily Express have broadcasted the news from the Football Insider regarding the potential transfer of Aston Villa outcast Ross McCormack to the ranks of the Championship rivals Leeds United.

The 31-year-old has had an excellent loan spell in Australia with Melbourne City, scoring 14 goals in 17 games. Despite his desire to stay in A-League, the Lions have decided to take him back to England this January to earn on his sale.

Now Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen is desperate to sign a quality striker this winter to bolster his team’s chances in the Premier League promotion race.

After a couple of failures to bring Cyle Larin and David McGoldrick, he identified McCormack as a must-have signing.

On the other hand, Steve Bruce doesn’t count on the former Leeds player, as he prefers to take Leicester City forward Leonardo Ulloa.

McCormack is going to leave Villa Park this January, but Leeds have to meet Villa’s demands secure his services.
