Sunderland have been told that they should not expect to sign Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn on loan from Liverpool this month.
Despite being one of the most highly rated young prospects within the Reds first team, Woodburn has struggled to receive regular first team game time this season and he has been linked with a move to the Black Cats in order to play more regularly.
Sunderland are looking for a new forward especially as their top scorer Lewis Grabban left the club this month to re-join his parent club Bournemouth.
When asked if he expects to bring in any new players to Liverpool this month, manager Jurgen Klopp said: “It’s not really likely. I don’t think a lot of things will happen in the next few days.”
It now means that Sunderland are unlikely to get the chance to sign Woodburn as it is unlikely that the Reds will find a replacement for him.
