Leeds tipped as one of huge favorites to land £5million-rated 19-goals-in-46-games hitman

According to Express, BetVictor have installed Leeds United as 2nd favourites to land Bradford City striker Charlie Wyke behind Middlesbrough.

The 25-year-old is attracting up to 7 Championship clubs this window following an impressive return in front of goal since he sealed a £250,000 switch to Valley Parade from Carlisle last January.

Wyke has scored 19 times in 46 games for Bradford, and can prove to be the consistent goal threat Leeds need as they challenge for the playoffs spots going forward this campaign.

However, they will have to part with at least £5million if they are bring him to Elland Road before next Thursday.

The manager of the League One side Stuart McCall recently said of Wyke’s chances of leaving halfway through the campaign: “I think he is hugely important to us. If you do not have £5m, do not bother coming.

“It is because we are seeing some of the prices being linked with other players in our division and Charlie is an important player to us. I think the chairman has come out and said he is not for sale in this window anyway.

“Now, if he goes out and scores another ten goals and at the end of the season becomes sell-able, that might be the case.

“But, I think the chairman has made it clear that he is not for sale, unless if someone has got £5m upwards, I would not bother coming to watch if I am honest.”

Leeds haven’t spent up to £5million in the acquisition of any player in the last 16 years, with the £4.5million they recently spent on Adam Forshaw the closest they have come of recent.

Despite Wyke’s huge promises, it’s almost impossible to see Leeds or other Championship suitors pay Bradford’s asking price for a League One talent.
