According to The Yorkshire Post, Middlesbrough have shown serious interest in landing Hibernian midfielder John McGinn, as manager Tony Pulis reckons the Scottish starlet would be the perfect replacement for the departed Adam Forshaw.

McGinn, 23, has been strongly linked with an exit away from Easter Road this window, with Celtic and Rangers battling for his signature.

West Ham are also said to have registered interest in the Scotland international whose performances this term have been topnotch.

Since leading Hibs to the Premiership after helping them win the Scottish Championship last term, McGinn has been in top form, scoring and assisting 3 goals apiece in 21 league games, while also becoming a full internationalist in the process.

Many have tipped him as the perfect successor to Hoops’ skipper Scott Brown at both club and country level, with his range of passing, dynamism and tackling ability at a different level this term.

The Scottish League Cup and Cup winner has all it takes to improve any midfield in the country, and it’s no surprise that English clubs are looking to secure his excellent box-to-box midfield services.

Should Boro bring a juicy offer to the table, though, they have a chance of beating the aforementioned trio to McGinn’s signature.
