According to Kent Live, Liverpool are now leading in the race to sign Charlton Athletic defender Ezri Konsa this month, dealing a huge blow on former favorites Everton.
The Toffees Chief Scout Martyn Glover had been impressed by the performances of the 20-year-old after running the rule over him for a while, and a £4million move was said to be on the cards.
However, bitter rivals Liverpool appear to have pipped them to Konsa’s signature, with Addicks’ owner Roland Duchatelet ready to cash in on his prized asset.
Manager Karl Robinson – a lifelong Liverpool fan – once declared of the England U20 World Cup winner: “He’s the best young centre-back in the country, there is nobody better than him, fact.”, and it’s no exaggeration.
Konsa have had the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea all keen on him immediately he broke into the first team picture at Charlton 2 years ago.
The 6ft youngster has loads of potential and could now join former Addicks starlet Joe Gomez as the next kid to switch The Valley for Anfield.
