Newcastle dealt huge transfer blow as £14million deal falls through amidst plenty offers

According to Football Insider, Newcastle’s chances of selling out-of-favour striker Aleksandar Mitrovic this month appear to have been dealt a huge blow, as no club is willing to meet their £14million asking price.

The Toons are yet to make any signing during the winter transfer window, with manager Rafa Benitez told he has to sell in order to bring in new players.

However, getting a buyer for the 23-year-old looks impossible, with majority only keen on a loan deal.

As many as 22 clubs have asked to strike a temporary deal for Mitrovic, but Newcastle only want a permanent sale as he’s surplus to requirements.

The Serbian international is also keen on leaving in order to start playing regularly ahead of the World Cup, but the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, West Bromwich Albion, Bordeaux, Marseille, Anderlecht and Partizan Belgrade, who have all expressed interest in him, only want a loan deal.

Mitrovic’s 6 EPL appearances this term have all come from the bench, and while they are expected to be his last for the club, the uncertainty over his future makes things unclear.
