Everton reportedly looking to bring 24-year-old ex-Real Madrid midfielder to Goodison Park

As per Marca, Everton are keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Omar Mascarell ahead of a possible January move.

The Spaniard only recently returned to action last weekend after an Achilles tendon injury kept him out for 5 months, but it hasn’t stopped the Toffees, alongside Sevilla, from looking at his way.

Mascarell, a Real Madrid product who made just a senior team appearance for Los Blancos, is a ball-playing defensive midfielder capable of adding creativity to the Everton midfield.

The trio of Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin and James McCarthy aren’t exactly the smoothest on the ball, and Mascarell could be the perfect link between defence and attack that the Merseysiders desire.

Without a doubt, the club can do with an upgrade in the midfield pivot position, and the former Spain youth international could help out.

However, with Sevilla looking to bring Mascarell back home and Frankfurt keen on pushing for the Europa League qualifying spots, bringing him to Goodison Park won’t be an easy task for Everton this window.
