Pat Nevin has warned Ross Barkley that he needs to stop trying to do everything on the pitch now that he is a Chelsea player.
The 24-year-old sealed a £15 million transfer from Everton to Stamford Bridge this month after the Toffees were forced to sell him for a cut-price fee as his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Barkley was once touted as the future of English football after establishing himself within the Everton first team in 2012.
He went on to score 21 goals for the Everton first team from 150 games and churned out some brilliant displays under former manager Roberto Martinez.
Barkley has however been criticized during the past 18 months due to his performances and Nevin has given him some advice.
“He tries to do everything. He doesn’t make the right decision,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“He doesn’t need to try everything. He needs to do the right thing.”
