According to BetVictor’s latest odds, Newcastle are favourites to land out-of-favour Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho this month, with Stoke City and West Ham also in the running.

The Magpies tried to bring the 21-year-old Nigerian international to Saint James’ Park last summer before he completed a £25million move to The King Power Stadium instead.

Since Iheanacho’s move to the former champions from Manchester City, a paltry return of one goal in 13 appearances is all he has managed.

With his chances of going to the World Cup with the Super Eagles hanging in the balance, an exit is on the cards this month as the former Golden Boy nominee goes in search of regular playing time.

Given Iheanacho’s record at City, he could be the man to help Newcastle with their goalscoring shortcomings if he manages to rediscover his once-splendid form.

The youngster joined an exclusive list of players to have scored 10 Premier League goals before the age of 20 during his 2nd and final season at City.

An impressive 8 league goals in 2015-16 also saw Iheanacho emerge with the best goals-per-minute ratio of any player, having averaged a goal every 93.9 minutes.

Newcastle could do with the services of the Nigerian striker at this point in time, but they will have to beat a couple of suitors to his signature.
