Legend explains why Giroud would not like playing for Newcastle

Steve Howey has suggested that Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud would not like playing for Newcastle.

Newcastle are struggling to score goals in the Premier League this season and will look to make additions to their side this month in order to boost their chances of avoiding relegation.

Giroud has been linked with a move away from the Gunners as he needs to be playing regularly during the second half of the season if he wants to be part of the France squad that will play in the 2018 world cup.

Everton are favourites to land the 31-year-old striker with odds of 6/1 while Newcastle’s odds are 10/1 according to popular bookmakers Betvictor.

Howey however feels that Giroud would not like playing for the Magpies due to the cold weather.

He said: “Forward wise, Daniel Sturridge has been mentioned, Torres has been mentioned who obviously has the connection with Benitez.

“I’m not too sure someone like Giroud would like it up there, it’s probably a bit too cold for him to be honest!”
