West Ham reportedly looking to beat French giants to Champions League-winning forward

According to West Ham World, club record signing Marko Arnautovic has recommended his former Stoke City teammate Xherdan Shaqiri to the club as they look to recruit this winter.

It’s said that 4 Potters players are included in a 30-man shortlist the Hammers are looking at as manager David Moyes looks to strengthen the squad, and the Switzerland international winger is a prominent feature.

Ligue 1 giants Nice are also keen on Shaqiri, who won the Bundesliga and Champions League with Bayern Munich, but West Ham will look to pip them to the signature of the 26-year-old who cost £12million upon arriving England from Inter Milan in 2015.

The east Londoners could do with the attacking threat the right winger brings to the table. With 4 goals and 5 assists in 20 league games this term, Shaqiri has been in fine form and could be tempted by the chance to link up with Arnautovic at the London Stadium.

West Ham are yet to recover from the loss of Dimitri Payet, but the Swiss winger and playmaker could help replace the missing contributions of the French star given their similar skill set.
