Manager admits £50million will see West Ham sign top target

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal has admitted that his side may sell West Ham target Alfie Mawson should they receive an offer in the region of £50 million.

Following since arrival at the Liberty Stadium from Barnsley in 2016, Mawson has gone on to establish himself as a keen player for the Swans and helped the club avoid relegation from the Premier League last season under Paul Clement.

Even though the Swans looked destined for relegation this season, the former England U-21 international has kept his reputation intact.

He has won more aerial duels (70) and made more clearances (142) than any other player in the Swans team and this has caused him to be linked with other clubs this month.

“When I signed (as manager last month) it was very clear we would try and bring in players to improve the team,” Carvalhal said, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“We will not sell the best players in January, the message is clear. I have had guarantees from the chairman, but it depends if someone comes in and gives £50million, £100million, £250million.

“Of course, then it is completely different – to me, (Philippe) Coutinho or Neymar. You can never say that it will not happen, but the fundamental idea is not to sell players and try to improve the team.”
