Newcastle United are interested in the signature of Liverpool FC duo Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Newcastle United have been looking for a new forward to lead the lines as their current crop of attackers have failed to get goals on a consistent basis so far this season.
This lack of firepower in attacker has made it a priority for manager Rafael Benitez to sign new forwards during the current transfer window – in hopes that the new recruits will save the Toons from relegation.
Now recent reports suggest that Benitez has identified the Liverpool duo of Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge as their top targets but it looks like both the players are beyond the Magpies’ reach due to various reasons.
Claims have been made that Sturridge’s wages are too much for Newcastle while Ings has confirmed that he is uninterested to leave Anfield this season and it will be interesting to see if either of the transfers go through.
Nevertheless, a new striker is a top priority for Newcastle and suitable recruitment in the position might prove to be the difference between relegation and safety this season.
