Tottenham dealt blow in hopes of signing defender

Tottenham and Arsenal have been dealt a transfer blow after Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has ruled out the possibility of a move for Jannik Vestergaard for the Premier League duo.

The Denmark international has been in superb form for his club during the first half of the current season and this has led to interest in him from the Premier League.

Vestergaard is likely to be heading to the world cup this summer with the Denmark national team and has won ten caps so far for his country.

Eberl has now ruled out the possibility of the player leaving his club, at least for this month and is reported to have said: “There is absolutely no reason for us to let Jannik go.”

Considering the progress that he has been making, it is perhaps just a matter of time before big clubs aim to sign him and especially so if he goes on to have a good world cup.
