This Sunday, January 7, 2018 (4:00 PM Pacific) Queretaro will host Club America at the Estadio Corregidora for a game in the first round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Club America was one of the best teams in the Apertura 2017 while Queretaro was one of the worst but this could prove to be a very entertaining game.
Queretaro had an extremely busy offseason with the three key additions of Miguel Samudio from Club America, Diego Novaretti from Leon and Edson Puch from Pachuca. Los Gallos also signed defender Hiram Mier to a permanent deal and only loss Emanuel Villa to Ascenso MX team Celaya. Luis Fernando Tena’s team went from an uninspiring side to a playoff contender especially with the potential partnership of Edson Puch and Camilo Sanvezzo in the attack.
Club America just made some splash signings of their own by bringing in French Striker Jeremy Menez and Colombian winger Andres Ibarguen. Neither of the two will feature in this game as both are still settling in from their recent moves. Las Aguilas did lose Pablo Aguilar to Club Tijuana but received Joe Corona, Emanuel Aguilera and Henry Martin in return.
All three could potentially feature in this game as Miguel Herrera is very familiar with them from his days with Xolos. Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez will not feature in this game for pending sanctions from the Apertura 2017 playoffs. Queretaro’s Yerson Candelo is also set to miss this match due to a suspension as well. The game should prove to be a very exciting one and should actually be a very hard-fought encounter.
