Everton reportedly in a battle to sign Porto left-back

According to reports, Everton, Fenerbahce and the La Liga duo of Alaves and Celta Vigo are all interested in signing Porto left-back Miguel Layun.

The form of Alex Telles has been so good this season that Layun has struggled to receive regular game time.

The Mexican has made just two Primeira Liga starts this season for Sergio Conceicao’s side who are at the top of the standings.

Layun is determined to be the first choice left-back for the Mexican national team during the 2018 World Cup and is concerned that his lack of game time could affect his chances.

Hence a January move  is on the cards, however there is also a chance that Porto will choose to keep hold of the player as he is an excellent back-up option.

The links to Everton are not something one would expect but at the same time, it is not surprising. With Leighton Baines injured, the Toffees have no other left-back option.
