As per The Sun, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has told out-of-favour midfielder Jack Colback he can leave the this month as the club look to raise funds to do transfer business.
The 28-year-old has been frozen out of the first-team picture following a fall out with the boss prior to the start of the campaign, and has had to train and play with the under-23’s.
Colback was linked with an exit during the summer, but his willingness to remain in the North-East blocked any deal from happening.
However, his former club Sunderland are keen on having him back, and a deal could be reached in the coming days.
Newcastle badly need to make quality additions to a squad that has unsurprisingly underperformed since their return to the topflight.
Funds realized from the sales of unwanted players like Colback will go a long way in boosting the club’s chances of getting quality business done during the current transfer window.
