Leeds blow as tricky clause could scare them off pursuing 21-year-old EPL winger

As per the print edition of The Sun (via HITC), Liverpool are planning to include a hefty six-figure fee clause in any subsequent loan deals for their youngsters that states that they will receive the agreed fees if their players do not play enough.

This is as a result of their frustrations with how recent loan deals for some of their starlets have panned out, and it could scupper Leeds’ chances of landing Reds winger Ryan Kent on loan.

The 21-year-old English forward is set to be recalled from his Freiburg loan nightmare having only made 6 appearances for the club in the German topflight, and starting just a game.

Liverpool want guarantees of frequent playing time for their players before loan deals are agreed henceforth, and with the Championship quartet of Leeds, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Derby County all keen on Kent, the side willing to agree with the aforementioned terms have the better chances.

Leeds want more attacking firepower this month as they look to finish strong ahead of the playoffs come season end.

While Kent will be a great option given his qualities and experience having played 44 Championship games for Barnsley last term, the clause in a likely deal seems a huge risk to take.
