According to The Mirror, West Ham winter target and Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge prefers to join only Southampton when the transfer window opens in January.
The 28-year-old wants to leave Anfield in order to boost his chances of making the England squad for the World Cup, and is only keen on linking up with the Saints whom he reckons will count on him and hand him a starting berth.
Liverpool value Sturridge around £25million, and while the Hammers wouldn’t hesitate to splash the cash on a proven Premier League goalscorer, his personal preference could block a move.
The striking trio of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho hasn’t performed up to expectations this term, forcing manager David Moyes to play wingers upfront.
Sturridge, though, represents a great option to lead the West Ham line despite his lack of game time at Merseyside, but it seems the east Londoners will have to strike his name off their list as he has his mind set on another club.
