Leeds and Newcastle reportedly monitoring highly-rated England youth international ahead of January

As per the Mirror, Benfica starlet and ex-Arsenal youth player Chris Willock is attracting the attention of Newcastle, Leeds United and a couple of others ahead of the January transfer.

The 19-year-old has yet to feature for the Portuguese giants’ senior team since completing a switch from north London during the summer, and a temporary exit in order to fast-track his growth is being considered.

Willock, an England under-20 international remains highly-rated despite not making his senior team bow yet, but it remains to be seen if he can contribute much to the Whites or Toons.

Newcastle are trying to stay up in the topflight, and while January additions remain top priority, lack of funds means they could be forced to make do with loan signings.

Leeds on the other hand are trying to gain promotion and are in need of quality attacking reinforcements to aid the dream during a crucial concluding half of the campaign.

Game time remains Benfica’s top priority to Willock, and it doesn’t seem likely Newcastle have many to offer the teenager.

Leeds too doesn’t seem to have much of it on their hands, and it would come as a surprise if either side maintain keen interest next month.
