West are reportedly ready to launch a £25 million bid for defender

West Ham are reportedly ready to launch a £25 million bid for Alfie Mawson.

Despite Swansea struggling and facing the risk of relegation this season, Mawson has been one of the rare bright sparks.

The Hammers are looking to add the 23-year old to their squad during the January transfer window and are making early bids in order to ensure that a deal is completed as soon as possible.

Swansea have already rejected a bid of £18 million and informed West Ham that they would only consider a sum of money that is in the region of £25 million.

It is understood that 15 perfect of the fee that Mawson is sold for will go to Barnsley as part of the deal that took him to the Liberty Stadium in August 2016.

The Swans could use the funds that are generated from the sale of Mawson to provide funds to their next manager to bolster the squad in January.
