Michael Keane has credited manager Sam Allardyce for helping Everton’s defensive revival.

The Toffees were largely underwhelming for majority of the first half of the season and flirted with relegation.

However after Allardyce was appointed as manager, the club has not yet been defeated and are back in the top half of the standings.

The Merseyside club claimed a creditable 0-0 draw against Chelsea during the weekend and Keane was one of the standout players on the day and went on to pick up the man of the match award.

During an interview with Evertontv, Keane revealed that Allardyce is the reason for the clubs turnaround and gave some insight into his methods.

He said: “A lot of work has been put in on the training ground and, obviously, getting results help because it makes you believe more in the system that you’re playing and the work that you’re putting in.

“All the lads are buying in to what the gaffer is doing. Getting results breeds confidence and we’ve probably rode our luck a little bit at times against Chelsea but we earned it.”
