Rangers caretaker boss Graeme Murty has been handed the managerial position until the end of the season.
A Rangers statement read: “The club’s directors believe Graeme has demonstrated he is capable of handling this task successfully and are confident the players will continue to respond to his leadership in a positive manner.
“It should be noted that Graeme will have the final say on which additions will be made during the January transfer window, which should be perfectly understandable given that he’ll be working longer term with the first-team squad. This will allow him to make important judgement calls.”
Following the departure of Pedro Caixinha, Aberdeen boss Derek Mclnnes became the favourite to replace the Portuguese coach; however he opted to remain at Pittodrie.
Murty will be in charge of the clubs January transfer signings and he already made his first signing for the club as defender Declan John’s loan deal from Cardiff City was converted into a permanent one.
So far Murty has done a fine job during his second stint as interim manager of the Gers and won six out of his nine games in charge.
