West Ham star Manuel Lanzini has been hit with a two match ban after being guilty of successful deception of a match official during the Hammers Premier League win over Stoke on Sunday.
The Argentina international went down after being challenged by Erik Pieters during the first half and Mark Noble converted the resulting spot-kick to give the East London club the lead.
Lanzini was charged for “successful deception of a match official” and was given till Tuesday to respond.
He has now been ruled out of the Hammers Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal as well as from their Premier League clash against Newcastle on Saturday.
“Successful deception of a match official” is a now rule which came into effect as of this season whereby players are punished for successfully fooling referees into awarding penalties or awarding opposition players either yellow cards or red-cards.
